>North Dakota Fans Will Buy Anything

24 August 2010

>

UND fans are bidding on a signed jersey. Signed by… Jonny Toews? No. T.J. Oshie? Nope. Not even Papa Oshie. It is signed by SARAH PALIN.

Good lord. I mean, I’m a conservative and all, but THIS JERSEY IS NOT EVEN GAME-WORN OR EVER WORN BY A PLAYER AT ANY TIME EVER AND SARAH PALIN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH UND HOCKEY, THE STATE OF NORTH DAKOTA, OR REALLY ANYTHING AT ALL WORTH PAYING FOR.

The article states the jersey is currently at $3759. Never have I ever wanted to swear so much on this site.

Note to former UND players who are not NHL millionaires: if you need money, just skate in a drop-in beer league hockey game, slap a Sioux logo on the jockstrap you wore, and put it on E-bay. You’re bound to net at least 10 grand.

    >Not saying I would bid on this but here's my effort to explain why the price has gotten so high. 1. The winner also receives 4 suite level tickets to one of this year's Sioux/Gopher games at REA. Street value for that alone is porbably around $400 at least.2. The money goes to the ND Republican party. A lot of these rich republicans were going to donate money to the ND Republican party anyway, so why not do it by bidding on this? At least they have a chance to get something in return instead of just handing their money over. I have noticed you can sell almost anything for a high dollar amount when you stiplify that the proceeds go towards a cause that many people believe to be worthwhile.3. It is North Dakota, where although the 3 representatives in congress for the last 20 or years have all been democrats, the majority of people vote republican. I think the republican candidate has won ND in the last 742 presidential elections…I may need to check my math on that. Anyway the point is she is one of the faces of the republican party right now and North Dakotans are traditionally strong republicans.

    >The winner doesn't receive those tickets; the person who guesses the number of bids and the winning bid amount is who wins the tickets.

    >Or perhaps it is just because North Dakota has money. Not to many states can say that.

    >So as a conservative, I would think you would like a strong conservative woman like Sarah Palin. I think she is the best thing to come out of Alaska other than the oil that makes the gas to drive my SUV.

    >She is… not who I originally thought she was. Let's leave it there.

    >Donna,What do you mean? I just wondering, also, do you like Michelle Bachman from the Minnesota 6th district? Personally, I think both women are awesome… The Left wing meida like MSNBC/MSDNC/MSLSD and other like minded media types are scare of both women or they wouldn't spend their time trashing them.
